31 Days To Change Your Life
“How Do You Get People Motivated, But Not Offend Them?” Shelle Sikkema 2012
Making one, small life change each day and then sticking with that change can be powerful. Making these small changes can literally change your entire life.
How do you change? I am going to spend the next 31 days showing you small changes that you can make to improve yourself and your life. Try each change, practice it and make it yours. Go slowly. If the change fits you, implement it and do it everyday for 31 days. It will become a habit. Pick one change or all of them but don’t do too much too fast or it end up just like all the New Year’s resolutions from last year.
The list is 31 days long. Each change is simple, yet incredibly powerful. Some are obvious and some aren’t.
I hope this list will help you CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
Day 1. Move More
It doesn’t matter if you sit all day or walk all day long, change your movements. If you sit all day, walk. If you walk all day, run. Move your arms, legs, torso, whatever you can in a regular rhythmic motion for at least 10 minutes a day
Walk daily if you are physically able. As humans are not supposed to be sedentary human beings. We are born to run, but even more so to walk.
My sister-in-law started walking. She built up to an hour a day, changed the amount of food she ate and lost 150 lbs. Walking every day is good for your physical health. It helps to tone and trim that mid-body fat that is so easy to put on with all the fast food we eat.
But more importantly, it’s good for your mind. Walking is a joy. Walking clears your mind and allows you to think more clearly.
If you can walk outside. Buy a good pair of walking shoes that fit for the nice days. Buy a raincoat, big waterproof hat and galoshes for those days when it’s not. Buy or make a walking stick that comes up to your elbow for support and defense.
If you can’t walk outside, find a place indoors. A shopping mall, gym, the office or factory were you work. Even somewhere like a horse barn (arena) can work for you.
Yes, I offer all kinds of indoor walking tools on this site and for many of you a good treadmill, elliptical or exercise bike is what you need but always remember there are few better ways to boost your mood than for going on a walk outdoors.
What do You do to move more?
What a great post! I am bookmarking your blog so I can follow this series this month. You make it sound like it can be done – I like the idea of “small changes” – thanks!
I’m waiting eagerly for the other 30 articles
A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step! The trick is to try and incorporate the walking into your daily routine. Try walking to work. Or stop using the elevator and take the stairs.
